Lucknow, 15 March 2026 โ Laraware Welfare Foundation today announced a CSR partnership to fund a community nutrition programme targeting 500 malnourished children across 8 villages in Sultanpur district, Uttar Pradesh.
The six-month programme will provide daily hot nutritious meals, iron and vitamin supplementation, and monthly health monitoring for children aged 1 to 6 years identified with moderate or severe acute malnutrition.
Why This Matters
According to the National Family Health Survey (NFHS-5), Uttar Pradesh has one of the highest rates of child malnutrition in India โ with 39.7% of children under 5 found to be stunted. In rural Sultanpur, the figure is even higher.
Programme Structure
- Daily nutritious meal delivery at 8 village anganwadi centres
- Monthly weight and height monitoring
- Parent nutrition education sessions
- Iron, folic acid, and Vitamin A supplementation
- Referral to NRC (Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre) for severe cases
Statement
"Malnutrition is not inevitable. It is a consequence of poverty and lack of access โ both of which can be addressed with targeted, sustained intervention," said Rahul Tiwari, Co-Director, Laraware Welfare Foundation. "We are grateful to our CSR partner for making this programme possible."
